A festival of sand
sculptures began Saturday in Tottori Sand Dune in Tottori Prefecture,
featuring works by artists from more than 10 countries based on the
theme of fairy stories of the world. Running through May 31, the World
Sand Sculpture Festival expects to draw some 200,000 people, organizers
said, adding that people can enjoy Tottori specialties such as
pear-flavored ice-cream and crab ramen noodles at the festival site.
